When You Get an Omi
The honest version of the math. Numbers verified May 5 2026 against vendor pricing pages.
Some of the AI subscriptions you pay for every month are doing things the Omi can do for free. Not all of them. Three of them are worth a hard look.

Subscription 1: Otter Pro
What it does
Voice transcription, meeting summaries.
Otter Pro pricing (verified May 2026)

- Monthly plan: more, do not buy monthly
What the Omi replaces
The basic transcription use case. Omi Free plan gives you 1,200 cloud transcription minutes per month plus unlimited on phone transcription. That is roughly 20 hours of cloud transcription per month, free, no subscription.
If 20 hours covers your usage, Otter Pro is replaced by the Omi Free plan plus the device. The device is $129 right now with the $50 off limited time promo. Year one math at the $129 promo price: $129 device, $0 in subscriptions, net savings of about $30 vs paying for Otter Pro and not having a wearable.
Honest version: if you do less than 20 hours of cloud transcription per month, you save $99.96 per year. If you go past 20 hours, you break even and gain a wearable.
Subscription 2: Fireflies Pro
What it does
Zoom and Google Meet recording, AI summary.
Fireflies Pro pricing (verified May 2026)
- Annual plan: $10 per user per month, range of $120 to $216 per year depending on tier
- Monthly plan: $18 per user per month
What the Omi replaces
The meeting recap use case for live in person and laptop based meetings. If you do mostly Zoom or Google Meet from a laptop, Fireflies still has cleaner platform integration. If you do mostly in person meetings, the Omi covers that better because you wear it.
Honest version: partial replacement, not a full one. Lean Omi if you are mostly in person. Lean Fireflies if you are mostly on Zoom and want speaker tags from inside the call.
Subscription 3: Plaud Pro
What it does
Cleaner transcripts, longer storage, AI prompt templates for the Plaud Note device.

What the Omi replaces
If you already have a Plaud, the Omi mobile app is free. Connect your Plaud to it via the xor connection, run my apps on your Plaud audio, and you may not need Plaud Pro anymore.
Honest version: try the Omi mobile app for free, connect Plaud, see if it covers what Plaud Pro was doing for you. Cancellation is optional, not automatic.
What the math looks like in year one
Scenario A: drop Otter Pro, switch to Omi Free, buy at the $129 promo price.
- Otter Pro saved: $99.96 per year
- Omi device at promo: $129 one time
- Net first year: plus $30.96 in savings AND you own a wearable
- Year two onward: $99.96 saved every year
Scenario B: drop Otter Pro, switch to Omi Unlimited annual.
- Otter Pro saved: $99.96 per year
- Omi device at promo: $129 one time
- Omi Unlimited annual: $199
- Net first year: minus $228.04, but you get unlimited transcription plus the wearable
- Year two onward: $99 saved per year vs Otter Pro
Scenario C: keep Plaud Pro, add Omi Free, no device.
- No new spending, just install the Omi mobile app
- You unlock Omi marketplace apps that run on your existing Plaud
- You may decide to drop Plaud Pro after a month, that is your call
Subscriptions that are NOT going to be replaced
I am being honest because the math has to be right.
- HeyGen, Synthesia, ElevenLabs: avatars and voice generation. Different category.
- Notion, Linear, Asana: knowledge and project management. Different category.
- Calendly: meeting scheduling. Different category.
- Zoom and Google Meet: video conferencing. Different category.
The Omi replaces the voice capture, transcription, and meeting recap layer. Nothing more.
