I build apps on the Omi wearable platform for a living. That means I have worn this device more hours than most people will in a year. This review is not a first-impression piece from a tech blogger. It is a developer's honest breakdown after 30 days of daily use, three shipped apps, and more integration headaches than I care to count.
If you are trying to decide whether the Omi AI necklace is worth $79 in 2026, this is the review you actually need.

Omi is a small, lightweight AI wearable you wear around your neck. It has a microphone that passively captures ambient audio throughout your day. That audio gets transcribed in near real time and sent to an AI processing layer that can trigger apps, create memories, log conversations, and fire custom webhooks.
The hardware in 2026 is on its second major revision. The form factor is smaller than the original. The clip mechanism is more reliable. Battery life sits at about 24 hours of passive listening on a single charge, though real-world use with active recording is closer to 16 to 18 hours.
The device pairs to your phone over Bluetooth. There is an iOS app and an Android app. Both work. The Android app still lags slightly behind iOS on notification handling but the core recording pipeline is identical.
What I Built on It (and Why That Matters for This Review)
Before I get into the wear test, here is the context that shapes this review. I have shipped three apps on the Omi platform:
Omi Connect Tesla. Voice control for your Tesla via Omi. Say "Hey Omi, warm up the car" and your Tesla fires the climate control. The webhook architecture runs on a Railway deployment proxied through my VPS.
Omi Life Logger. Passive life logging. Everything Omi captures gets chunked, tagged, and written to a searchable timeline in Supabase.
Omi Voice Vault. Voice note storage with tagging, search, and export. The Omi device effectively replaces every voice memo app I ever used.
I am building three more: Deposition Digest for solo law firms, Real Estate Showing Notes for agents, and an AI SOAP notes app for clinicians.
30-Day Wear Test: What I Actually Observed
Days 1 to 7: Calibration and Setup
The first week was calibration. Getting the device set up with my custom apps, wiring the webhooks, confirming Supabase writes were coming through reliably. For a non-developer, this period is simpler: download the app, pair the device, choose which built-in AI features you want active.
The out-of-box experience in 2026 is significantly better than early 2025. Battery life held at 16 to 18 hours for me, which covers a full waking day. I charged it overnight every night and never ran out mid-day.
Days 8 to 20: The Voice Control Habit Loop
By the second week, I had internalized the Tesla voice control to the point where it felt weird not to have it. The round-trip time from voice command to vehicle acknowledgment is about 3 to 4 seconds on a good LTE connection.
Life Logger became my primary note-taking system. I stopped manually opening note apps. By day 15, I had a searchable record of everything I had discussed, planned, or verbally brainstormed for two straight weeks.
Days 21 to 30: The Long Tail Test
The final stretch was about durability. Battery still hits 15 to 16 hours. No reliability issues. The one real friction point: the device does not handle very loud environments well. This is a known limitation of the hardware and the 2026 revision has not fully solved it.
Omi vs the Competition (2026 Comparison)
| Feature | Omi | Limitless Pendant | Bee AI |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $79 | $99 | $49 |
| Developer API | Yes, full webhook and REST | Limited | No public API |
| Open app ecosystem | Yes (Omi marketplace) | No | No |
| Battery life | 16 to 24 hrs | 14 to 20 hrs | 8 to 12 hrs |
| Active community | Yes (Discord) | Moderate | Small |
My Honest Ratings
Hardware: solid build for the price. Software: the platform has matured significantly. Developer experience: the webhook and REST API architecture is clean. Value: $79 for a full developer API and open marketplace is strong.
